Fun fact about this wedding that I shot this past August- I myself has an Elberta Life Saving Station Wedding in Elberta, Michigan almost 14 years ago. This was my first time shooting a wedding at my own wedding venue and it was especially awesome because it was with the most wonderful couple.
The Bride and Groom
It was pretty clear from meeting Ashley and Kuni that they are a very special couple. Shooting their rehearsal and their wedding was a highlight of my 2024 season. It was really important to them that the day be a little goofy and a lot THEM, and include many personal touches. And no stiff wedding photos.
Elberta Life Saving Station Wedding
The Elberta Life Saving Station is a gorgeous former… life saving station, believe it or not, on the Betsie Bay in Elberta, Michigan. It’s just across the bay from Frankfort; a quaint little summer resort town that I’ve gone to all my life and own a cottage in. It was beyond special, and an honor, to be part of such a beautiful wedding day in my very favorite place in the world.
Their rehearsal dinner took place at the Crystal Lake Yacht Club during a summer evening. If you want to see a wedding I shot there a couple years ago, here you go. The wedding day started at Ashley’s family cottage on Lake Michigan. And ended at the Elberta Lifesaving Station with an epic party and cake. Ashley and Kuni were married on site with the bay right behind them.
